$70mln MoUs Signed with Chinese Companies

Islamabad (TDI): Prime Minister (PM) Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has directed for early completion of business facilitation centres in the country.

He was chairing a meeting in Islamabad today to review the ongoing projects and progress on various initiatives taken under the Board of Investment.

During the briefing, the meeting was told that over 200 B2B agreements have been concluded with Chinese companies and MoUs worth 70 million dollars have been signed.

The Prime Minister directed the officials concerned to expedite work on regulatory reforms aimed at providing business-friendly environment in the country.

He emphasized devising an effective and comprehensive roadmap for implementation of signed MoUs and Business to Business (B2B) agreements with international investors.

PM on Foreign Investors

The PM said effective marketing of investment opportunities in Pakistan is inevitable to attract foreign investors.

He added for this purpose, Business Facilitation Centers, organizing road shows and other initiatives are important to bring foreign investment in the country.

The meeting was briefed that 35 Special Economic Zones in the country have been surveyed through Geographical Information System and comprehensive data is available to speed up progress of ongoing projects in Special Economic Zones.

It was mentioned that an 18-point plan has been formulated to make Special Economic Zones more effective.

On this occasion, proposals regarding Ease of Doing Business Act 2024 were also presented. Under the Act, Board of Investment will shape the regulatory framework for doing business in the country in line with the changing demands of time.

Federal Minister for Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan and senior officers of relevant institutions were present in the meeting.

The Business Facilitation Centres is considered essential for attracting investors from foreign countries.

A Business Facilitation Centre is being established in Islamabad under the banner of the Board of Investment, where business community will get one-window facilities and their problems of business related departments will be solved under one roof.
