Beijing: July 12, 2021 –(TDI): On Sunday China and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) celebrated the 60th anniversary of signing the “treaty of friendship” between China and North Korea.
In 1961 Premier of the People’s Republic of China Zhou Enlai and Prime Minister of North Korea Kim Il-Sung signed the treaty in Beijing. The purpose of signing the treaty is to enhance the China-DPRK friendly cooperation and to preserve regional peace and stability said Chinese FM earlier this month.
On this occasion, the Chinese President Xi Jinping shared congratulatory messages with his DPRK counterpart Kim Jong Un. Xi in his message to Kim, talking about the treaty said that it serves as a vital political and legal framework for consolidating friendship and encouraging friendly cooperation between the two countries. Xi also mentioned that he is keen to deepen strategic communications with Kim, understand the future of China-DPRK relations, and lead the two nations to a new phase of mutual brotherly relations.
Kim on the occasion also sent congratulatory messages to Xi in which he said that the trust and cooperation of the two sides have strengthened and bilateral ties have reached a new level despite the challenging and changing international scenario. Kim stated the Korean Workers’ Party and the DPRK government are firmly committed to continuously strengthening and developing their partnership with China.
