Islamabad (TDI): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Thursday that more than three hundred Pakistanis have safely returned to Pakistan from Syria.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, during the weekly media briefing, confirmed that among the returnees were individuals who had traveled to Syria for religious purposes.
“We are following developments in Syria and are concerned about the escalation in violence. We express full support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and unity and of Syria”, Baloch said.
Any solution to the Syria problem should correspond to the wishes of the Syrian citizens for their security, stability and prosperity, she added.
Baloch said that Pakistan had always supported the efforts aimed at finding a comprehensive solution to the crisis in Syria
She said Islamabad was deeply concerned at Israeli aggression against Syria and its illegal seizure of Syrian territory and widespread destruction of infrastructure, civilian and military installations in Syria.

his assault on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria is a serious breach of international law, she added.
“We reiterate our support for the United Nations Security Council Resolution 497, which declares Israel’s annexation of the Golan Heights illegal”, she said.

Regarding the repatriation of stranded Pakistani nationals, the spokesperson said that the foreign ministry and Pakistan’s missions in Syria and Lebanon were actively engaged in facilitating the process.
“Around 475 Pakistanis have reached Lebanon from Syria. They will be shifted from Beirut to Islamabad. We appreciate the support provided by Lebanon in facilitating the safe return of the Pakistani citizens stranded in Syria.”
