California, 22 August 2024 (TDI): After testing with a small group of users, YouTube has revealed that QR codes will soon be available for usage on all channels.
The purpose of the function is to provide content creators with an extra way to effortlessly link audiences with their work.
How viewers may access their individual QR code was described by YouTube: “The YouTube app’s ‘You’ tab at the bottom can be used to find your QR code. Next, hit the ‘Share Channel’ chip under your handle and select ‘QR code’ from the menu that appears to view the QR code for your channel. Afterwards, you have the option to store it to your phone’s camera roll or show it to someone in close proximity so they can quickly scan it to discover your channel.”
Enhancing channel promotion and drawing in new followers are perceived benefits of QR code deployment.
It’s still unclear, though, how useful QR codes are. Though QR codes have immense potential, their use has not expanded outside of niche applications like grocery store checkouts.

It’s interesting that YouTube is taking this action at the same time as Instagram is trying a feature that is similar to YouTube’s, using profile cards, which suggests that QR codes are still popular.
Given that QR codes frequently reappear before disappearing once more, it is unclear if this represents a long-term trend or just another transient experiment.
