Beijing (TDI): Chinese President Xi Jinping’s recent participation in the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan has heralded a new era of solidarity and development among BRICS nations, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Saturday.
Wang emphasized that China continues to play a pivotal role in driving BRICS cooperation and stands as a core member of the Global South.
During the summit, Xi outlined key principles for enhancing collaboration within BRICS and emphasized the collective pursuit of shared goals among member nations.
“BRICS countries must focus on building a framework committed to peace, innovation, green development, and justice,” Wang quoted Xi, underscoring the importance of fostering closer people-to-people exchanges and acting as advocates for common security and sustainable growth.
He also announced eight pragmatic measures aimed at bolstering the high-quality development of BRICS cooperation.
Wang noted a consensus among members to invite new countries as BRICS partner nations during the Kazan Summit, reinforcing that the BRICS mechanism differs fundamentally from rigid Cold War mentalities and bloc confrontations.
This approach, he stated, is expected to contribute significantly to the establishment of a multipolar world and inclusive economic globalization.
