Beijing (TDI): Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed China’s commitment to jointly promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation with Indonesia during a phone conversation with Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Monday.
He emphasized the importance of ensuring the sustainable operation of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway and creating further avenues for collaboration that would benefit the citizens of both nations.
Xi highlighted the significant relationship between the two countries, noting that during Widodo’s decade-long presidency, he has made eight visits to China and met with Xi on 12 occasions.
This close interaction has opened a new chapter in building a community with a shared future and has fostered a comprehensive strategic partnership.
The Chinese president acknowledged Widodo’s vital role in strengthening China-Indonesia ties and expressed confidence that the new Indonesian government would uphold its friendly policy toward China, further elevating the bilateral relationship.

As next year marks the 70th anniversary of the Bandung Conference, Xi reiterated China’s readiness to collaborate with Indonesia in promoting the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and the Bandung Spirit.
He called for increased solidarity and cooperation among Global South countries to safeguard the interests of developing nations and enhance regional and global development and stability.
In response, Widodo reflected on the deep friendship he has cultivated with Xi over the past ten years, which has yielded significant achievements in the comprehensive strategic partnership between Indonesia and China across various sectors.

He expressed gratitude to China for its contributions to Indonesia’s economic development, highlighting the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway as a successful model of Belt and Road cooperation.
