Beijing (TDI): Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to participate in the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia, from October 22 to 24, following an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced on Friday.
This summit marks a significant milestone as the first to be held after the recent expansion of the BRICS group, garnering considerable attention from the international community.
“The upcoming meeting will feature both small- and large-scale leaders’ discussions, along with the BRICS Plus leaders’ dialogue,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said during a press briefing.

President Xi is expected to deliver important speeches and engage in extensive discussions with other world leaders regarding the current international landscape, practical cooperation within BRICS, the development of the BRICS framework, and key global issues of mutual concern.
Since its inception, BRICS member states have remained committed to promoting multilateralism and acting as a positive, stabilizing force in international affairs.

Mao expressed that China is prepared to collaborate with all parties to ensure the steady and sustained progress of BRICS cooperation, aiming to usher in a new era of unity and self-improvement for the Global South while jointly advancing world peace and development.
