Xi Stresses Building China into Cultural Powerhouse

Beijing (TDI): Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized on Monday the need for concerted efforts to establish China as a cultural powerhouse by 2035.

Speaking at a group study session of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Xi highlighted the continuous development of a socialist culture with Chinese characteristics for a new era.

He reiterated the importance of upholding Marxism as the guiding principle while deeply rooting cultural initiatives in China’s extensive civilization and adapting to the rapid evolution of information technology.

Xi pointed out that the Party has prioritized cultural advancement since the 18th CPC National Congress, implementing a series of significant measures that have shaped the framework for socialist culture in this new era.

He acknowledged the substantial progress made in the pursuit of cultural empowerment.

Stressing the necessity of the Party’s leadership, Xi called for an enhancement of governance capabilities within the cultural sector, particularly in an increasingly information-driven environment.

He underscored the importance of core socialist values as guiding principles in this endeavor.

In a bid to inspire national creativity, Xi urged for the fostering of democracy in academic research and the arts, encouraging writers, artists, and scholars to draw inspiration from everyday life and focus on creating meaningful work.

He highlighted the importance of addressing the public’s diverse cultural and intellectual needs across various levels and fields, aiming to enhance the supply of cultural services and products.

Furthermore, Xi emphasized the need to carry forward China’s cultural heritage through innovative transformation and development.

He called for efforts to bolster China’s cultural soft power and enhance the global appeal of Chinese culture through increased international exchanges and cooperation, while also learning from the achievements of other civilizations.
