Kazan (TDI): Chinese President Xi Jinping underscored the strength of China-Russia relations, hailing their cooperation as a model for major neighboring nations based on non-alliance, non-confrontation, and non-targeting of third parties.
Xi made these remarks during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday in Kazan, where the 16th BRICS Summit is being held.
Xi highlighted the remarkable journey of China-Russia relations, citing pioneering achievements and expressing optimism for continued collaboration.
He also emphasized the importance of engaging in-depth discussions with Putin and other world leaders about the future of the BRICS cooperation mechanism, with a particular focus on expanding opportunities for the Global South.
“BRICS is a pillar force in promoting equitable and orderly multipolarity in global affairs and an inclusive model of economic globalization,” Xi said.
The meeting comes amid increased cooperation between China and Russia, which analysts believe plays a vital role in driving BRICS forward.
Experts also assert that this partnership is key to addressing international crises and improving global governance.

Warm Welcome for Xi
Xi arrived in Kazan on Tuesday, greeted by Russian officials with a formal ceremony.
His arrival was marked by a red carpet welcome, with Russian youths in traditional attire honoring the Chinese leader.
A Russian fighter jet also escorted Xi’s plane upon its arrival.

Chinese nationals and students residing in Kazan were seen at the airport, chanting “welcome” in Tatar as they gathered to greet Xi.
Chinese Ambassador to Russia, Zhang Hanhui, highlighted the significance of the China-Russia partnership, noting that their coordinated positions on international issues serve as a stabilizing force in regional and global peace.
