Xi Outlines Roadmap for Open, Green, Connected Asia-Pacific

Gyeongju (TDI): Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday laid out a five-point vision aimed at promoting inclusive globalization and building a stronger sense of shared destiny within the Asia-Pacific region. He presented his proposal while addressing the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting.

Speaking under the theme “Building an Inclusive and Open Asia-Pacific Economy for All,” Xi highlighted APEC’s role in driving global growth over the past three decades, saying it has helped turn the region into one of the most dynamic engines of the world economy.

Acknowledging that the world is now facing “changes unseen in a century,” Xi cautioned that new uncertainties and challenges are emerging, calling on APEC members to stand united through turbulent times and stay committed to the forum’s founding goal of boosting prosperity and improving people’s lives.

Xi urged members to defend genuine multilateralism and strengthen the World Trade Organization’s central role in global commerce. He also called for updating trade frameworks to reflect modern realities and safeguard the interests of developing economies.
