Beijing (TDI): Chinese President Xi Jinping extended an olive branch to the United States, expressing China’s willingness to be a “friend and partner” with Washington.
In a letter to the 2024 annual awards dinner of the National Committee on US-China Relations, Xi stated, “China is willing to be a partner and friend with the United States. This will benefit not only the two countries but the world.”
Xi underscored that the bilateral relationship between the two nations is one of the most crucial in the world, impacting the future of humanity, according to media reports.

Tensions between the US and China have escalated due to national security concerns and trade disputes.
Trade relations have also been strained over issues like electric vehicle restrictions and advanced semiconductors.

“China has always handled China-US relations in accordance with the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation,” Xi added, stressing that both nations’ successes present opportunities for each other.
