Kazan (TDI): Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sis on the sidelines of the 16th BRICS Summit held in Kazan, Russia, on Wednesday.
Xi expressed to Masoud that China will show unwavering support and maintain friendship with Iran irrespective of the current changes in international and regional situations.
He further stated Iran is a good friend of China and has a great influence in regional and international affairs.
He put a great emphasis on China-Iran strategic partnership in a fast-paced world and reaffirmed China’s support for Iran in protecting its sovereignty, security, and national dignity.
This also included advancing Iran’s socio-economic development and strengthening good ties with its neighbors.
Xi elaborated China’s willingness to work with Iran to further the bilateral exchanges in different fields, provide benefit to the two peoples.
He further added that this exchange will deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two parties.
Pezeshkian reiterated Iran will enhance the mutual cooperation with China and jointly work in the fields of connectivity, infrastructure, and clean energy, among others.
Additionally, both the leaders communicated their genuine concerns over the current Middle East conflict and advocated for the need for an immediate ceasefire.
Chinese President Xi Jinping also met with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sis and congratulated Egypt for attending BRICS as a full member for the first time.
Both nations ought to enhance practical mutual cooperation, foster people-to-people and cultural exchanges, develop mutual political trust, collaborate deeply on the Belt and Road.
Both parties also committed in building a China-Egypt shared community to benefit the two peoples, he added.

In addition, both sides expressed contentment towards the 10 years of comprehensive strategic partnership, which has resulted in mutual advantages in numerous fields.
Sisi thanked Xi for China’s strong determination towards Egyptian socio-economic development and ensured that the China-Egypt partnership will continue to reap benefits in the future through joint efforts in different areas, including the Belt and Road Initiative.
Egypt will remain persistent in promoting multilateralism and reforming global governance by working collectively with China and other BRICS members, Sisi added.
