Beijing, (TDI): President Xi Jinping on Sunday urged the Chinese people to draw inspiration from national heroes and role models to create a formidable force for building a strong China.
His remarks came during a ceremony bestowing the country’s highest state honors, ahead of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
Xi emphasized that China is currently at a pivotal stage in its journey to becoming a great modern socialist nation and achieving national rejuvenation through Chinese modernization.
At the event held at the Great Hall of the People, President Xi presented the prestigious Medal of the Republic, the Friendship Medal, and various national honorary titles.
Four individuals, including veteran war hero Huang Zongde and renowned medical scientist Wang Zhenyi, were awarded the Medal of the Republic.
Ten others, including border patrol officer Bayika Kalidibek, technician Xu Zhenchao, and acclaimed actress Tian Hua, were conferred national honorary titles, according to state media
Former Brazilian president and current president of the New Development Bank, Dilma Rousseff, was among the recipients of the Friendship Medal.
Extending warm congratulations and high regard to the recipients, President Xi underscored that in the past 75 years, the CPC has led the Chinese people in achieving two notable feats: rapid economic growth and sustained social stability.

In his address, Xi reiterated the need for the Chinese people to uphold the spirit of the nation’s heroes and role models as they forge ahead to build a stronger China.
“Great times call for heroes,” he noted.
The ceremony took place against the backdrop of vibrant celebrations marking the PRC’s 75th anniversaries.
Beijing Decorated
Beijing’s streets were adorned with decorative lights, floral displays, and flower baskets, reflecting a festive atmosphere.
Before the ceremony, the recipients of the national medals and honorary titles were escorted by a state guest motorcade to the Great Hall of the People, where they were greeted by a group of children holding flowers and national flags.

In his speech, Xi lauded the tremendous transformations that have taken place in China, stating that the country’s path to national rejuvenation has now reached an “irreversible historical course.”
He highlighted that generation after generation of heroes have contributed to the lasting prosperity of the Party and the people’s cause.
The Chinese president called on citizens to keep their aspirations alive, refine their skills, and strive for extraordinary accomplishments in their daily work.
He urged people to contribute to overcoming challenges related to development and reform and to maintain social harmony and stability.
