Beijing (TDI): Chinese President Xi Jinping has emphasized the need to further adapt Marxist theory to suit China’s unique circumstances and address contemporary challenges.
President Xi, who also serves as General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, made these remarks in a directive concerning the ongoing efforts to refine and advance Marxist theory in the current era.
The directive was shared during a conference in Beijing on Friday, marking 20 years since the initiation of a significant project aimed at studying and developing Marxist theory.

The initiative has been instrumental in reinforcing the guiding role of Marxism in China’s ideological and intellectual discourse.
President Xi underscored the importance of integrating the foundational principles of Marxism with China’s socio-economic realities and its rich cultural heritage.
He called for an acceleration in the establishment of an independent framework for Chinese philosophy and social sciences, alongside fostering a cadre of highly skilled theoretical experts.
He also advocated for enhanced theoretical research and public engagement to ensure a deeper understanding of the Party’s innovative approaches among the general populace.
Study of Marxism’s Core Tenets
Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee’s Political Bureau, addressed the conference and reiterated the need for rigorous studies on Marxism’s core tenets. Cai highlighted the importance of tackling issues unique to China’s realities while drawing from the depth of the nation’s traditional culture to fuel theoretical innovation.
