Beijing (TDI): Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for further strengthening ties between China and Pakistan, reaffirming his commitment to building a closer bilateral partnership in a message marking Pakistan Day.
In his message to President Asif Ali Zardari, Xi said he was ready to work together to advance what he described as a “shared future” between the two countries in a new era.
He noted that this year marks both the beginning of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan and the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Beijing and Islamabad, calling it an important milestone in the longstanding partnership.
Xi expressed hope that both countries would continue their traditional friendship, deepen strategic coordination, and better align their development strategies while progressing on their respective paths toward modernisation.
He also praised Pakistan for safeguarding its sovereignty and national dignity while navigating economic and security challenges, and for its role in promoting regional peace and stability. “As a close friend, China is sincerely pleased with Pakistan’s development achievements,” Xi said.
