Beijing (TDI): Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday urged China and France to seize emerging opportunities and broaden the scope of their bilateral cooperation during talks with visiting French President Emmanuel Macron in Beijing.
Xi described China and France as visionary and responsible major countries, capable of promoting multipolarity, global solidarity, and international cooperation. He noted that humanity is facing unprecedented changes and critical decisions, emphasizing the need for both nations to uphold multilateralism, responsibility, and strategic independence.
“China is willing to work with France based on the fundamental interests of both peoples and the long-term interests of the international community,” Xi said, highlighting the importance of equal dialogue and open cooperation to ensure that the China-France comprehensive strategic partnership continues to advance steadily, demonstrates strategic value, and contributes to a fair, orderly, and inclusive international system.
Xi stressed that, regardless of global uncertainties, both countries should support each other on issues related to core interests and safeguard the political foundation of bilateral relations. He also referenced China’s 15th Five-Year Plan, adopted during the fourth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party, noting that it provides the world with a “list of opportunities” for cooperation.
