X CEO Linda Yaccarino Resigns

San Franscisco (TDI): Linda Yaccarino stepped down Wednesday as Chief Executive Officer of X, ending her two-year tenure at the company owned by Elon Musk.

In a message posted on the platform, Yaccarino reflected on what she called “two incredible years” steering X through a period of dramatic change.

Her arrival was seen as a strategic move by Musk, who had assumed the CEO role following his $44 billion purchase of Twitter in late 2022.

At the time, Musk aimed to shift focus toward innovation and technology while bringing in Yaccarino to manage relationships with advertisers and media partners.

Although Yaccarino didn’t explain why she chose to leave, her decision comes at a time when X is under increased scrutiny.

The company’s AI chatbot, Grok, recently stirred backlash for controversial posts, one reportedly praised Adolf Hitler, while another contained offensive remarks about Islam.

Before taking the job at X, Yaccarino had spent much of her career in the media world, particularly at NBCUniversal, where she played a key role in handling advertising.

She was hired in mid-2023, with Musk hoping her experience would help calm the chaos that followed his takeover and bring advertisers back on board.

Her resignation comes as the platform continues to face scrutiny over content moderation and brand safety, issues that have unsettled advertisers since Musk’s takeover. No successor has yet been announced.
