This was shared in a tweet by World Bank Africa through its official Twitter account. An international high-level panel on water investments for Africa was inaugurated at the 9th World Water Forum in Dakar, Senegal.
The panel includes past and current heads of African states along with other world leaders. The event is expected to take place on Tuesday, 30 August 2022.
WWW22: Objectives
The High-Level Panel’s Road Map and the United Nations Water Conference in 2023 will be presented at this session. Moreover, with the potential for development partners to make a contribution, the session will be led by the Co-Chairs of the Panel.
Additionally, the Committee Members and high-level representatives will discuss their progress to develop an equity action plan.
They will also discuss mobilizing 30 billion US dollars per year by 2030 to narrow the water security and sanitation funding gaps in Africa.
Furthermore, the event will discuss Water Investment Scorecard, a mechanism to evaluate progress in mobilizing water investments and identify bottlenecks. This will be helpful in improving mutual responsibility, and for actions at the state level.
Along these lines, the perspectives for improving gender equality and climate adaptation will also be examined.
The panel’s objective is to enlist the strong government leadership and dedication needed to transform and enhance the investment outlook for climate-resilient gender-transformative water security.
Besides this, ecological sanitation for an economically thriving, secure, and equitable African society will also be discussed.
