Discussions at WTO Forum
Executive Director of the International Trade Centre (ITC) Pamela Coke-Hamilton has said that “we need to stop global warming in time if trade can help in building the green economy. However, climate change will kill everyone slowly.”
The representatives have addressed multiple challenges that humankind is facing. A session on “delivering a trade agenda for a sustainable future” has held and panelist shared their views. How could we steer the world business to a green economy?”
Commissioner for Rural Economy and Agriculture of the African Union Commission (AUC), Josefa Leonel Correia Sacko highlighted the link between a sustainable environment and trade.
She called for bringing green technology to Africa. She added Africa is only responsible for 3% of global emissions while most vulnerable to climate threats.
Professor Signe said that bold climate change steps can yield direct benefits in job creation, economic growth, and public health.
He cited that economic research was recently done which shows that a clean energy transition can bring USD 26 trillion finance benefits and 65 million jobs by 2030.

Ms. Kaske-Kuck said that climate risks are not only for tomorrow, but it is also for today. As we have seen it in Pakistan recently. She said in the panel that we need a good quality of doing business and trade agreements.
