Abu Dhabi, 13 August 2022 (TDI): Today, the world is observing “Organ Donation Day”. Every year on August 13, it is observed internationally.
The objective of observing this day is to raise understanding about the necessity of organ donation and to inspire others to donate as well.
Many people die due to a lack of available organs. Hence, organ donation is a noble and positive act. Several nations commemorate organ donation day according to their national schedules to encourage organ donation.
Many incorrect beliefs and worries concerning organ donation exist in the minds of potential donors. This is because of a lack of information. Over the years, medical research has advanced by enormous amounts.
A human can donate many organs which include the liver, kidney, pancreas, and heart. The goal of this day is to raise awareness about organ donation so that individuals vow to donate their organs.
The Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Hamed, has emphasized the significance of organ donation, which reflects the characteristics of charity without demanding anything in reward.
He stated that these are the principles that “our late father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nayhan, instilled in us.”
