Mumbai, 9 September 2024 (TDI): In the Agar Naka region of the Central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, a woman who worked as a rag picker was allegedly assaulted by a guy after drinking alcohol, according to authorities. The woman was allegedly assaulted on footpath in India.
As reported the Indian daily newspaper The Hindu, the culprit was taken into custody after the woman’s allegation regarding the event that happened in Ujjain city on Wednesday.
The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) pointed out that the crime occurred in Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s constituency, highlighting the “deteriorating law and order” in the state.
This, in turn, sparked a heated argument between the BJP and the Congress over the video of the woman being raped on a footpath in Ujjain city, with The Indian Express reporting on the incident on Thursday.
According to an Independent report from Sunday, police also detained the man who reportedly recorded the rape and uploaded it on social media.
The woman was allegedly raped on one of the busiest intersections in the city, and witnesses recorded the crime on camera, according to the police. Despite this, no one took action.
The woman came to the police station yesterday at around 3:30 pm and stated that she had been raped, according to City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Om Prakash Mishra, who made this announcement on Thursday.
Once the superior officials were informed, a female officer was contacted right away, her statement was heard, and a FIR was filed.

The complainant disclosed Lokesh’s name, according to the police. Within two hours of the FIR being filed, the suspect was taken into custody, according to Mishra, who added that “a team was immediately formed and sent in search of Lokesh.”
Following a medical examination of the woman, Lokesh appeared in the court and placed under judicial detention.
Police claimed that, Lokesh “raped her on Wednesday after making her drink alcohol and promising to marry her.”
Instead of intervening to prevent the crime, some bystanders recorded the incident on camera while woman assaulted on Indian footpath, according to the police.
Mohammad Salim, a city auto rickshaw driver, has been identified as the one who reportedly recorded the rape, according to Sharma.
According to Sharma, inquiries are ongoing to determine his motivation by the investigators. Investigators have located the recorded footage on the accused’s cellphone, which they recovered.
According to State Congress President Jitu Patwari, a woman in Madhya Pradesh was raped on a pavement in the CM’s consistency. This has surpassed all boundaries, when the BJP was protesting throughout the state over the rape-murder case at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital.
According to The Indian Express, State BJP President VD Sharma claimed that the Congress party was polarizing the incident.

Because the Congress party is unable to pressure the Madhya Pradesh administration, they are attempting to portray the incident in this manner.
The BJP government is the first to pass legislation imposing the death sentence on anyone who commit these types of offenses.
He stated, “The state government will make sure that strict action is taken against the accused, who has been arrested.”
