WHO Pakistan celebrates International day of old people

Islamabad, 6 October 2021 (TDI): WHO Pakistan organized an event in collaboration with the Ministry of National Health Services, Pakistan on the occasion of International Day of Old people.

A number of well-known personalities like WHO Pakistan’s Representative, Dr. Palitha Mahipala, and Parliamentary Secretary for Health, Dr. Nausheen Hamid participated. During the walk to commemorate IDOP 2021, Dr. Palitha talked about the need for respecting and treating good older people as they are an asset to society. Old people possess many years of experience that help in building a prosperous society.

This day is to connect older neighbors and family members and it can be celebrated by focusing on healthy aging. Healthy aging is a continuous process but the final product you get is much more. It helps in protecting from any kind of weaknesses and diseases. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), “Healthy aging is a continuous process of maintaining and building physical as well as mental health. It aids you to get free and improve your quality of life”.
