Wendy R Sherman holds Discussion With Foreign Minister of Vietnam at UN

New York, 23 September 2021 (TDI): On Thursday, during the United Nations General 64th assembly session, the 21st Deputy Secretary of United States, Wendy R. Sherman, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Bui Thanh Son discussed on the behalf of the United States and Vietnam shared strategic sight of regional security, ASEAN centrality and endorsing the rules based on international order in the South China Sea and Mekong Region.
 Vietnam contributes to international security and engages in mutually beneficial trade relations with the U.S. The strategic relations between Hanoi and Washington will decisively shape the geopolitical dynamic in Southern Asia beyond semantic issues over the coming years. On the belief of Vietnam, the representative explained the circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic and mentioned that the global, regional multilateral mechanisms must be strengthened between the two states.
The 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly started on Tuesday this week under the presidency of the Foreign Minister of Maldives, Abdullah Shahid.
