Bejing/Tehran, 5 September 2021 (TDI): On 3 September 2021, the Foreign Minister of China and Iran exchanged views on the 50th anniversary of Sino-Iran diplomatic ties, COVID-19 vaccine cooperation, and the Afghanistan issue through a phone call.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi once again congratulated the new Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on assuming office. Hossein also sent regards of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Chinese President Xi Jinping.
He reiterated that the foreign policy of Present Iran’s government emphasizes Iran’s relations with Asian states in which he attached huge significance to enhance the China-Iran comprehensive strategic partnership.
The focal points of Iran’s foreign policy were valued by Wang Yi. He also announced the provision of another vaccine batch to Iran, to strengthen the bilateral relations. In response, Iran’s Foreign Minister thanked China. In the last, the foreign ministers of both states conversed on the situation in Afghanistan.
Wang stressed the need for close coordination between Beijing and Tehran for peaceful settlement of the Afghanistan issue.
Iranian side acknowledged China’s point and urged the international community to play a role in preventing the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. Hossein assured the cooperation of Iran with China for peace and stability in the common neighbor of the two countries.
