Tokyo, 22 November 2021 (TDI): Vietnam’s Prime Minister, Pham Minh Chin started his official visit to Japan Today, as per the announcement of the country’s Foreign Ministry.
Prime Minister Pham is visiting Japan at the request of his Counterpart Kishida Fumio. He is accompanied by Minister of National Defense, Phan Van Giang and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bui Thanh Son.
The Minister of Home Affairs, Pham Thi Thanh Tra, and the Minister of Planning and Investment, Nguyen Chi Dung are also part of the Vietnamese delegation.
Aside from them, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Nguyen Hong Dien, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. Le Minh Hoan, and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Tran Hong Ha are also accompanying him.
The visit will provide an opportunity for the Premier to dialogue with leaders of the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren) and host leaders of major Japanese firms. After he was elected as a Prime Minister, Kishida Fumio has been hosting the first-ever Foreign head in Japan.
ASEAN-Japan Summit
The two also attended the ASEAN-Japan Summit last month and held talks at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26), earlier this month. Vietnamese Prime Minister will hold talks with his Japanese counterpart, Kishida Fumio to discuss bilateral cooperation
He will also address the investment promotion conference in Japan. During the high-level visit, the two countries will sign cooperation agreements between the business community.
Vietnam’s Ambassador to Japan, Vu Hong Nam said that there is a win-win relationship between the two countries. He said Vietnam and Japan are committed to creating a foundation for cooperation to ensure peace and stability in Southeast Asia and beyond.
Japan-Vietnam Ties
The two nations established diplomatic relations 48 years ago in 1973. They are looking to mark the Golden Jubilee of their relations in 2023.
Earlier, Vietnamese President, Truong Tan Sang also visited Japan in 2014. The visit upgraded the bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Partnership between the two countries.
