Vienna(TDI): The 4th International Digital Security Forum (IDSF) will take place from June 4 to 6, 2025, in MuseumsQuartier Vienna, transforming the Austrian capital into a global hub for dialogue on digital resilience, cybersecurity, and technology diplomacy.
Held under the theme “Balancing Sovereignty and Solidarity in the Digital Age,” the forum will convene leading figures from politics, industry, academia, and civil society. The event aims to promote secure digitalisation through coordinated international efforts and shared digital strategies.
Organised by the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, the conference is supported by the Federal Ministry of European and International Affairs and other key Austrian ministries. It is held in collaboration with the Austrian Security and Defence Industries Group, Competence Center Secure Austria (KSÖ), Austrian Development Agency (ADA), and several international partner institutions.
Following a successful 2023 edition that attracted over 500 participants and more than 100 speakers from 35 countries, the upcoming IDSF will feature a high-level agenda focused on bridging technological innovation with international cooperation.
Participants will explore the balance between national control over data and infrastructure—digital sovereignty—and the need for global solidarity to set common standards and share knowledge to address cyber threats.
Key issues on the agenda include security risks at the intersection of AI, quantum technology, and biotechnology, as well as the evolving role of tech diplomacy, the transformation of global cybersecurity strategies, and digital security challenges in regions like the Indo-Pacific.
Other areas of focus will include the protection of critical infrastructure, trustworthy data spaces, human-centered digital governance, and the impact of disinformation and digital manipulation on democratic systems.
As part of the programme, the Vienna Centre for Societal Security (VICESSE) will host a dedicated track on June 5, titled “Sovereignty and Solidarity in the Digital Age – a critical view,” bringing together voices from social sciences, law, activism, and tech to critically assess the societal impact of digital transformation.
