Caracas, 13 April 2022 (TDI): The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Republic of Guinea Bissau, Timóteo Saba M’bunde, visited Venezuela to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
Meeting with Venezuelan Vice-Minister for Africa
The Bissau-Guinean Minister met Yuri Pimentel, the Vice Minister for Africa of the Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Relations. The officials iterated that the bilateral relations between the two nations are based on respect for international law, sovereignty, and independence.
Meanwhile, they expressed their intention to continue strengthening their friendship and cooperation. Both nations will cooperate within the framework of South-South cooperation. In addition, they expressed that their friendship begins from solidarity and complementarity for each other.
Furthermore, they agreed to hold the Venezuela and Guinea-Bissau Joint Commission soon. The joint commission seeks to advance cooperation in the areas of energy and oil, economy and trade, education, and training. Moreover, it will also cover health, communication and information, security and defense, and science.
Meeting with Venezuelan Vice-Minister for Research
Moreover, Bissau-Guinean Minister also called on the Vice Minister for Research and Application of Knowledge, Francisco Durán. The officials aimed to promote cooperation in science, technology, and innovation between the two countries.
The Vice Minister expressed Venezuela’s willingness to reintroduce strategic conventions and agreements to enhance the well-being of the two peoples. He stressed the need for cooperation, especially in the face of the unilateral coercive measures that Venezuela is facing.
Likewise, Timóteo M’bunde stressed that the two countries have common historical experiences that unite their people in resistance and democracy.
Meanwhile, he said, “Venezuela has had great achievements in multiple areas and I think we can expand training in areas such as medicine, scientific research, culture, agricultural production… Venezuela has a lot of experience in helping despite the unilateral coercive measures imposed by imperialism in the economic and financial order”. He expressed support for Venezuela against unilateral sanctions.
Venezuela and Guinea-Bissau strengthened bilateral scientific and technological cooperation.
