Canberra, 2 November 2021 (TDI): Australia supplied 107,500 COVID vaccines to Fiji under the ambit of vaccine diplomacy, Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced.
Australian Prime Minister declared the development today through Twitter. Earlier, he met with Fijian Counterpart, Frank Bainimarama, on Saturday.

Scott reiterated his government’s success and pride in vaccine diplomacy. It is an achievement for Australia to further contribute more than 1 million doses to Fiji.

According to Marise Payne, Australia is working to promote strong COVID-19 recovery & regional climate resilience.
Fiji also received 50,000 doses from the South Pacific country in June. Australian medical Assistant Team; AUSMAT is also serving in Fiji to support them in disastrous COVID-19 impacts. Prior to that, 200,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine were also sent to the Fiji government by Australia.
The country is also working on the theme of ‘partnership for recovery’ with other Pacific Islands. The partnership will help the Pacific partners to curb the COVID-19 spread.
Earlier, Australia also removed Fiji from the list prohibiting the countries traveling to Pacific Island. Fiji along with Singapore, the UK, and the US was on the list of quarantine free travel.
