Tashkent (TDI): Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have agreed to expand collaboration in the field of telecommunications, with a focus on cybersecurity and banking anti-fraud systems.
The agreement was reached during ICT Week Uzbekistan 2025, currently underway in Tashkent.
At an official meeting, representatives of Uzbekistan’s Republican Center for Management of Telecommunications Networks and the Kazakh company ATS Mediafon KZ discussed new avenues of partnership.
Talks centered on improving telecom network management, applying advanced technologies, and developing stronger safeguards against digital fraud.

Officials stressed that closer cooperation would enhance the reliability of telecommunications services and protect consumers from unlawful transactions at a time when digital services are rapidly growing across Central Asia.
A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed following the discussions, outlining commitments to share expertise, launch joint projects, and coordinate measures to counter banking fraud.
The agreement is seen as a significant step toward creating a safer and more resilient digital ecosystem in the region. Both sides emphasized that combating online fraud requires collective solutions, given the increasingly cross-border nature of financial crimes.

Analysts highlight that Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, as two of the region’s fastest-developing digital economies, stand to benefit from harmonizing their approaches to cybersecurity. Stronger collaboration could also set the stage for broader regional frameworks on digital trust and consumer protection.
The partners reaffirmed that the memorandum would serve as a platform for long-term cooperation, not only in telecommunications but also in areas such as fintech, e-commerce, and digital public services, laying the foundation for greater regional integration in the digital sphere.
