Uzbekistan hosts International Negotiations on Tax and Custom

Samarkand, 5 October 2022 (TDI): Uzbekistan is hosting International roundtable negotiations on “Tax and custom policy reforms, as well as digitalization of revenue administration (exchange of experience)”. The discussion is going to be held on the 5th and 6th of October 2022 in Samarkand, the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Apart from Uzbekistan, five countries are participating in these negotiations. These countries are the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Russian Federation. High officials of finance, tax, and customs authorities of these states are the participants in the event.

Significance and Objective

The primary objective of these negotiations is to exchange the outlooks and practices of these countries regarding relevant matters. The targeted domains are tax, custom, and digitalization of revenue administration. The interlocutors will also observe particular measures to improve administrative skills in these spheres. The introduction of the new digital services is also the part of negotiations.

The platform has a significant impact on developing economic and financial linkages between the participant states. The podium will be helpful for participants to streamline their systems by learning from one another’s experiences.

Sessions of the Roundtable Negotiations

The negotiations are planned to be held in five sessions, that are consisting of two days. These sessions will take into consideration, the multiple significant issues relevant to the subject matter.

The first session dealt with the issues relevant to the tax. It started at 10 am on the first day of the negotiations on 5th October. The session discussed various types of taxes that include value-added tax, profit tax, personal income tax, and property tax.

The session that will concentrate on the custom relevant issues includes numerous topics. The significant issues are reforms in the field of customs regulations, and the digital transformation of tax and customs authorities.

The Ministry of Finance of the Government of Uzbekistan has arranged to broadcast these international roundtable negotiations. The live coverage is available on the official YouTube channel of the relevant Ministry.
