Islamabad (TDI): Trade and economic relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan have been growing steadily over the past nine years, underpinned by strong mutual trust and a strategic partnership between the two countries.

This foundation has paved the way for elevating economic cooperation to new heights. Between 2017 and 2025, bilateral trade turnover surged 12.2 times, reaching $445.9 million by the end of 2025. These figures highlight the deepening and expanding economic collaboration between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.

Agricultural products, particularly dried legumes, nuts, and peanuts, accounted for nearly 80 percent of Uzbekistan’s exports to Pakistan in 2025. Industrial goods, such as yarn and non-food raw materials, also experienced steady growth. On the import side, Pakistan mainly supplied food products and chemical goods, including pharmaceuticals and detergents.

During the state visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Pakistan on February 5–6, high-level discussions set a strategic target to increase bilateral trade turnover to $2 billion in the near future. The visit also culminated in a portfolio of trade and investment agreements valued at $3.5 billion, covering new projects in industrial cooperation, logistics, agriculture, and energy.

To support this growing trade, Uzbekistan Airways operates regular flights four times a week on the Tashkent–Islamabad and Tashkent–Lahore routes. Additionally, Uzbekistan’s private carrier, Centrum Air, plans to launch direct flights to Lahore starting in April.

These direct flights create additional convenience for exporters, ensuring fast and secure delivery of goods. Uzbek exporters can now transport consignments of up to two tons to Pakistan via Uzbekistan Airways, providing Pakistani importers with swift access to a range of products. The expanded air cargo connectivity offers a competitive advantage, enabling efficient delivery to a Pakistani market of over 250 million people.
