Uzbekistan’s 34th Independence Day Celebrated in Islamabad

Islamabad (TDI): The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtaev, hosted a reception to celebrate the 34th Independence Day of the country, which falls every year on September 1st.

As a distinguished guest, he was joined by Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Railways, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi. In addition, Ambassadors of Russia, Turkiye, and other Central Asian countries were also seen in the ceremony.

A cake cutting was organized to add to the celebration. Colorful dance performances revitalized Uzbek culture, alongside some curated performances by children.

In his elaborate speech, Uzbek Ambassador detailed what this day means to his people and country. “For every Uzbek, this day is not just a holiday. It is the heartbeat of our nation. It is the day when the dream of millions of families – to live under their own flag, in a free country – became a reality,” he said.

“We proudly say that we are reviving the traditions of the First and Second Renaissances, and we are confidently moving toward the Third Renaissance – a bridge between our famous past and a bright future of revival and progress,” the Ambassador added.

He also recounted Uzbekistan’s economic progress, mentioning that in the ongoing year, the country has attracted $35 billion worth investments, creating almost 9,000 new enterprises and service complexes.

Ambassador Tukhtaev as well as Minister Hanif spotlighted the bilateral relations, the possibilities of expanding ties while appreciating the bond that already exists.

“We are bound by centuries of shared history, culture, and spirituality,” said the Ambassador, adding “We are working together on projects of historic importance – above all, the Trans-Afghan Railway, which will connect not only Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, but CIS countries with South Asia, opening huge opportunities for regional trade and integration.”

The independence day of Uzbekistan was not only celebrated in diplomatic circles but visitors in the capital’s Centaurus Mall were also greeted by Uzbek dance performance on Sunday.
