Islamabad (TDI): Alisher Tukhtayev, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, called on Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan at his office in Islamabad on Monday.
During the meeting, the two dignitaries discussed trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges between the two countries, besides exploring avenues for enhancing business opportunities and bilateral relations.
Minister Jam Kamal shared the highlights from his recent visit to Uzbekistan and admired the country’s infrastructure and rapid development.
“I was particularly impressed by its railway system,” the minister said.

He highlighted the newly launched flights between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, noting their high occupancy rates as a sign of significant potential for collaboration.
Jam Kamal also identified religious tourism and other sectors as areas ripe for growth and called for further efforts to facilitate travel. He also advocated measures to ensure genuine visitors while maintaining rigorous scrutiny.
For his part, Ambassador Tukhtayev agreed on the untapped potential of bilateral trade, emphasizing sectors like agriculture, food, pharmaceuticals, and tourism.

He reassured Jam Kamal of his full support and round-the-clock availability to facilitate coordination in this regard.
The minister said local airlines from both countries should start joint ventures to boost trade and travel connectivity. He also suggested organizing business-to-business (B2B) interactions during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s future visit to Uzbekistan.
Both sides agreed to work closely to unlock the full potential of their relationship.
