Islamabad, (TDI): The outgoing Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Oybek Usmanov, was honoured for his significant contributions to strengthening Pakistan-Uzbekistan relations during a farewell meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.
During the meeting on Monday, President Zardari praised Ambassador Usmanov’s dedicated efforts to elevate the relationship between the two countries.
He commended the ambassador for his proactive role in enhancing cooperation across various sectors, including trade, investment, energy, and regional connectivity.
The President remarked that the ambassador’s tenure saw notable advancements in diplomatic ties, which have led to a broader strategic partnership benefiting both nations.
“Ambassador Usmanov’s work in fostering greater collaboration between our nations, especially in regional and economic affairs, has been pivotal,” said President Zardari.
“His efforts have laid a strong foundation for future cooperation, and we look forward to continuing to build on the momentum established during his time here.”

Ambassador Usmanov, in turn, expressed deep appreciation for the support and hospitality extended to him by the Pakistani government and its people throughout his tenure.
He highlighted the shared historical, cultural, and economic ties between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, and reiterated his country’s commitment to further solidifying the relationship.
“I am grateful for the unwavering cooperation from the government of Pakistan, which has allowed us to achieve key milestones in our partnership,” said Ambassador Usmanov.
Uzbekistan Committed to Expand Relations
“Uzbekistan is fully committed to expanding this relationship in areas such as trade, regional security, and connectivity. We see Pakistan as an essential partner in Central Asia.”
Ambassador Usmanov also reflected on the strides made in enhancing connectivity initiatives, including the Central Asia-South Asia (CASA-1000) energy project and the Trans-Afghan railway, which aim to bolster regional integration and trade.
The meeting ended on a positive note, with both sides reaffirming their shared goals for continued cooperation.
