Utility Stores Employee Loses Life During Protest

ISLAMABAD, 28 August 2024 (TDI): A tragic incident occurred during the ongoing protest of Utility Stores employees in Islamabad, resulting in the death of a worker.

Need Muhammad, a salesperson from the Bannu region, passed away last night while participating in the sit-in protest outside the head office. His body was transported to Bannu early morning.

Another employee, Mahboob Ahmed Khan from Mardan region, suffered a stroke during the protest and was provided initial medical treatment before being sent back to his hometown.

The Utility Stores Corporation employees have been protesting for the past three days, and today they marched from the Blue Area head office to D-Chowk, where they staged a sit-in.

A large police contingent is present at D-Chowk, and the Red Zone has been sealed off using containers at D-Chowk, NADRA Chowk, and Serena Chowk.
