After eight days of competing in the Olympics, the USA and China top the medal count in a tie with 46 medals followed by the Russian Olympic Committee with 37 medals, Japan with 30, and Great Britain with 28 medals.
The USA has so far won 16 gold, 17 silver, and 13 bronze medals while China has won 21 gold, 13 silver, and 12 bronze medals.
In the medal count for gold, China tops the charts with the highest number of 21 gold medals won followed by Japan with 17 and the USA with 16.
The USA has appeared in every Summer Olympics of the modern era, with the exception of the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow while for China, this year marks the 11th appearance at the Summer Olympics since its debut in 1952.
As the second half of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics begins, the anticipation for which team takes home the title of Tokyo 2020’s winner builds up.
