Kyiv (TDI): Ukraine’s Government has announced the signing of a MoU with the United States, marking a step toward finalizing an economic partnership agreement aimed at securing US investment in Ukraine’s critical minerals sector and supporting the country’s post-war reconstruction effort.
Ukraine’s Economy Minister, Yulia Svyrydenko, confirmed the development via a post on social media platform X, where she shared photographs of herself and US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent signing the document remotely.
Though specific terms remain under discussion, both sides expressed optimism about concluding the full agreement in the coming days.

“We are happy to announce the signing, with our American partners, of a Memorandum of Intent, which paves the way for an Economic Partnership Agreement and the establishment of the Investment Fund for the Reconstruction of Ukraine,” Svyrydenko wrote.
The memorandum sets the foundation for broader cooperation between Kyiv and Washington, with provisions expected to grant the United States access to Ukraine’s critical mineral resources, oil, and gas.
In return, Ukraine anticipates the creation of an investment fund designed to channel US financial support into rebuilding the country’s war-torn infrastructure and revitalizing its economy.
The fund would reportedly be co-managed by both nations on equal terms.

Previously, negotiations faced temporary disruption following a public disagreement between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the US President Donald Trump during Zelensky’s visit to the White House in February.
However, recent statements from both sides indicate that progress has resumed.
Treasury Secretary Bessent noted that the core terms of the agreement had already been outlined, describing the upcoming deal as “substantially what we’d agreed on previously” and mentioning that an 80-page draft was close to completion.
President Donald Trump also mentioned the deal during a press conference alongside Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, suggesting that the final signing of agreement can take place as early as next Thursday.
The forthcoming agreement, once finalized, is expected to not only enhance bilateral economic cooperation but also play a pivotal role in Ukraine’s long-term stability and recovery amid ongoing conflict.
