US to Double the Pfizer Vaccine Purchase

-

New York, 22 September 2021 (TDI): Addressing the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, US President Joe Biden exhibited commitment towards doubling the Pfizer vaccine purchase to share with the rest of the world. Biden embraced the goal of vaccinating 70% of the world population by 2022.

During his remarks at the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Biden recalled providing more than 160 million Covid-19 vaccine doses to other states, including 130 million surplus doses and the first installments of around 500 million shots the country is purchasing for the rest of the world.

President Biden further stated that the United States has shipped around 160 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines to other states so far. He indicated that planes carrying vaccines from the US have already landed in 100 countries, giving people across the world a ‘dose of hope.’

The stepped-up US commitment lays the foundation of the Global Vaccination Summit Biden is virtually convening on Wednesday, where he plans to urge the well-off nations to make resolute efforts to tackle the pandemic.
