Washington (TDI): In another move of surveillance, US congressional panel has sought information on Chinese students enrolled in Science and Technology Programs of six US Universities.
The Chair of the US House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, John Moolenaar, sent out letters on Thursday, asking for detailed information on the enrolled Chinese students and the research they are undertaking.
Letters have been sent out to Carnegie Mellon University, Purdue University, Stanford University, the University of Illinois, the University of Maryland, and the University of Southern California.

In response, China slammed this move by the US administration.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning called for protecting the legitimate rights of the Chinese students who are actively adding to United States’ revenue by paying full tuition fees.
She further noted that the US is unnecessarily “overstretching the concept of national security.”
Chinese students make up 25% of the total foreigner students in the US.
Earlier, a Representative from West Virginia Riley Moore introduced a bill in the Congress to disallowing entry to Chinese citizens into the US territory.

Since Trump’s second term in office, the new administration is extensively cracking down on immigrants and foreigners in the US. Students from abroad are repeatedly coming under fire.
They are being chased for pro-Palestine inclinations and are surveilled through AI systems.
These moves have pushed students under a constant state of fear and anxiety.
The United States consider China its foremost enemy and a threat to its national security and national interests.
From 1882 to 1943, Chinese Exclusion Act was in effect in the US, which restricted Chinese immigration to the country.
