US set to engage with Thailand

Bangkok, 21 October 2021 (TDI): The State Department Counsellor, Derek Chollet along with the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of East Asia and Pacific Affairs, Kin Moi, met with senior Royal Thai officials.

The inter-agency delegation discussed strategic dynamics with the Thai Government officials and civil society leaders. The Counsellor on his visit to the region, also visited Thailand.

He met with various dignitaries of the country; the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the State, Don Pramudwinai. The delegation also held meetings with General of the National Security Council, General Supot Malaniyom.

It was reaffirmed in the meeting that the US is a significant player in the region and has strong ties with Thailand. Earlier, US Vice President, Kamala Harris also visited East-Asia. The two countries will cooperate with Thailand in economy, trade, health and education sector.
