ISLAMABAD, (TDI): United States (US) made it clear that it will not support Pakistan’s ballistic missile program, reinforcing its longstanding opposition to the development and proliferation of lethal weapons.
U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller emphasized the country’s commitment to preventing the enhancement of Pakistan’s long-range missile capabilities.
Miller remarked, “We have been clear and consistent about our concerns with Pakistan’s ballistic missile program for many years.
It is our policy to deny support to this program, and we will continue to employ sanctions and other measures to protect our national security.”

While the U.S. closely monitors Pakistan’s missile developments, Miller noted that it still considers Pakistan a valuable partner.
“This action shows that there are areas of disagreement, and we won’t hesitate to act to safeguard America’s interests,” he said.
The U.S. approach to missile programs in South Asia is notably different for Pakistan and India.

Pakistan’s missile capabilities serve primarily as a deterrent against India, while India continues to enhance its arsenal in response to threats from China.
Additionally, the State Department has recently imposed sanctions on a Chinese research institute, a Chinese national, and three Chinese companies for allegedly assisting in the spread of dangerous weapons, including support for Pakistan’s Shaheen 3 and Ababeel missile systems.
This move underscores U.S. concerns regarding the proliferation of advanced weaponry and its potential impact on regional stability.
