Washington DC, 8 September 2022(TDI): Secretary of State, United States Antony Blinken had a productive call with Foreign Minister of Poland Zbigniew Rau.
Both ministers discussed the importance of continued close collaboration in the global response to support Ukraine.

Remarks by Secretary of State
Blinken thanked Poland for its sustained security assistance and humanitarian support to Ukraine. He also complimented Poland’s generosity in hosting millions of refugees from Ukraine.
Furthermore, he discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation on civil nuclear power generation in Poland to advance shared energy security, climate change, and national security objectives.
US – Poland Relations
Poland is one of the United States’ strongest partners in promoting regional and global security and prosperity.
In terms of NATO capabilities, counterterrorism, nonproliferation, missile defense, human rights, economic growth and innovation, energy security, and regional cooperation in Central and Eastern Europe, the United States and Poland work closely together.

Complementary areas of bilateral political collaboration between both states include political dialogues, security and defense, and the promotion of democratic reforms worldwide.
In 1999, the United States supported Poland’s entry into the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
Poland has contributed significantly to the U.S. and NATO-led military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
In recent years, the primary influences on Poland and American collaboration have been reevaluating U.S. foreign policy, security, and defense.
The changes in the security situation in Central and Eastern Europe and Poland’s expanding role in the European Union is also influencing factor.
Poland hosted the 2016 NATO Summit in Warsaw and continues to fulfill its NATO defense budget obligations.
People-to-People ties are a defining characteristic of U.S-Poland relations. Nearly 10 million Americans claim Polish heritage, giving constant support for close ties between the United States and Poland.
In addition, each year the U.S. and Poland exchange a large number of tourists through both official and private exchanges, sharing their histories, cultures, arts, and values.
