US New Sanctions Target Iran Oil Sector

WASHINGTON, (TDI): The United States has broadened its sanctions against Iran’s petroleum and petrochemical sectors in response to an Iranian missile strike on Israel, said the Biden administration.

The expansion adds these sectors to an executive order aimed at undermining Iran’s economy and restricting funding for its nuclear and missile programs.

National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan stated that the new measures will target the “Ghost Fleet,” which is responsible for transporting Iranian oil globally.

These actions are intended to further limit Iran’s financial resources that support its missile programs and assist groups threatening the U.S. and its allies.
