Okinawa, 15 February 2024 (TDI): The US Marines provide emergency relief to Mindanao concerning humanitarian assistance for the ongoing disaster relief mission.
At the request of the Government of the Philippines, the US Marines from the III Marine Expeditionary Force will support the US Agency for International Development.
According to media reports, “The USAID will provide foreign humanitarian assistance in Mindanao, Republic of Philippines.”
The Marines from Aircraft Group 12, the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing will deliver the requested supplies to the Armed Forces of the Philippines for distribution using KC-130J Hercules aircraft.
The Pacific Marines issued a written statement: “Behind every successful mission, lies a robust logistical support network ensuring seamless operations across the vast Indo-Pacific theatre.”
The US Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Roger Turner said, “Support to our allies and partners, and their people in a time of need, is non-negotiable.”

“Working in direct coordination with the US Agency for International Development and the Government of the Philippines, we stand ready to support those who need urgent assistance” he further added.
Moreover, the Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni-based aircraft group will deliver meals for distribution by the Armed Forces of the Philippines in Mindanao. It is stated that the meals will provide temporary relief. In addition, the Republic of the Philippines works to restore essential services.
Additionally, the forward presence of and ready posture of III MEF assets in the region facilitate an effective response to the crisis. Consequentially, the US commitment to allies and partners is significant in times of need.
Also, since a long time, the US Marines provide emergency assistance in support of safety and security in the region.
