Rhineland-Palatinate, 8 September 2021 (TDI): The US State Department appreciated the colleagues of the Defense Department and German affiliates working at Ramstein Air Base to ensure the safety of Afghan evacuees.
Currently, the Ramstein Air Base, Germany is being used as the temporary shelter of evacuees from Kabul, where their safety and comfort are dealt with. Ramstein had also been the logistic hub for the United States during the Afghanistan and Iraq wars previously.
The Taliban took control of Kabul in August, with the top officials including President Ghani leaving the country. The chaotic power grab has triggered humanitarian crises in the state, especially in the form of countless civilians attempting to flee Afghanistan.
