US Gifted Pakistan 6.6 Million Vaccines

Islamabad, 3 September 2021 (TDI):  The United States of America sent 6.6 Million Pfizer vaccine doses to Pakistan via COVAX on Friday.

According to the reports, the 6.6 Million Pfizer vaccines which have been sent to Pakistan through the World Health Organization’s COVAX initiative are in addition to the 9.2 million doses of Pfizer and Moderna vaccine already donated to Pakistan earlier by the US. In total, the United States gifted 15.8 Million vaccine doses to help the Pakistani government cope with the Coronavirus pandemic.

Although Pakistan has been able to administer over 58 million doses of the vaccine so far, many are still hesitant to get vaccinated against the virus. As Pakistan attempts to mitigate the spread of Covid-19, it is also rushing to vaccinate its population. Currently, around 35% of Pakistan’s eligible population has accrued at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
