US Firms Explore China Market Potential

Beijing (TDI): US companies have demonstrated strong interest in China’s market at the 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, reflecting their ongoing commitment to enhance cooperation with China.

The event, a premier global trade platform dedicated to imports, has drawn numerous US firms eager to showcase products and services.

Michael Hart, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in China (AmCham China), expressed optimism about US-China trade ties, according to Global Times.

“Every year we look forward to CIIE as an opportunity to reinforce the American presence in China,” he said in an interview.

AmCham China, representing nearly 1,000 member companies, remains a regular participant in the expo.

US companies’ exhibition area has consistently ranked among the largest at CIIE, reflecting their strategic focus on the Chinese market.

This year, major companies such as FedEx, Pfizer, and Rockwell Automation are spotlighting their investments and growth strategies aimed at meeting China’s evolving demand.

FedEx highlighted its innovations and sustainable practices, underscoring four decades of connectivity with China.

“CIIE is crucial for international trade promotion, and we are proud to celebrate our achievements in China,” said Poh-Yian Koh, senior vice president of FedEx and president of FedEx China.

Pfizer, marking its sixth appearance at CIIE, introduced its ‘Pfizer China 2030 Strategy,’ aimed at investing $1 billion over the next five years in innovation, diagnostics, and biotech development.

Jean-Christophe Pointeau, president of Pfizer China, emphasized the importance of deepening Pfizer’s contributions to Chinese healthcare.

Other US Firms Highlight Expo’s Significance

Other US firms, including logistics tech firm project44 and industrial automation leader Rockwell Automation, also highlighted the expo’s significance.

Rockwell’s president, Ian Shih, noted that China’s commitment to opening up will foster innovation and create more opportunities for foreign firms.

CIIE continues through Sunday, hosting a range of companies committed to advancing US-China economic cooperation amidst global challenges.
