Islamabad (TDI): The Embassy of United States in Islamabad has warned the visa applicants to stay vigilant about barcodes when applying for a visa and booking an appointment.
In an advisory post on X, the Embassy told the applicants to double check and compare the barcodes on their visa application and appointment confirmation. Both documents should have the same barcodes.
“Make sure the barcode on your DS-160 visa application matches the barcode used to schedule your appointment,” the Embassy’s handout read.
If you applied for a U.S. visa, check to ensure the barcode on your appointment confirmation matches the one on your visa application. Starting April 21, appointments with non-matching barcodes will be cancelled. Questions? Go to https://t.co/opbHcASz2D pic.twitter.com/ZOcykQySP7

“If the barcodes do not match, your appointment will be cancelled,” it added. It also provided a link for the ease of interested visa applicants where they can seek more information and also find answers to any questions they have.
The US Embassy took this opportunity to remind those who are seeking a US visa not to get scammed by agents, consultants or middlemen.
“We don’t recommend using visa consultants. You are responsible for ensuring that your application is accurate and truthful,” it informed the public.
