Islamabad, 20 April 2023 (TDI): The United States (US) Embassy in Islamabad has congratulated Naila Kiani on her historic achievement of becoming the first Pakistani woman to successfully summit Annapurna I in Nepal, the 10th highest mountain in the world.
Kiani accomplished this remarkable feat alongside Shahroze Kashif, the youngest Pakistani mountaineer to reach the summit.
This achievement marks another major milestone in Naila Kiani’s already impressive mountaineering career. For the record, she also became the first Pakistani woman to summit three peaks above 8,000 metres in August last year.
According to reports, Kiani achieved this feat earlier in the morning, despite extreme weather conditions between the C2 and C3 points.

To mention, Naila Kiani is a Dubai-based banker and mother who had no background in mountaineering before she embarked on this journey.
In 2022, Kiani also became one of the first two women to climb K2, the second-highest peak in the world, in her very first attempt. Prior to that, she had already ascended Gasherbrum-II, the world’s 13th-highest mountain, in 2021.
