ISLAMABAD, September 6,2024 (TDI): On Friday, the United States (US’s) allies’ countries have expressed displeasure over the growing US demands to further squeeze restrictions on China’s access to semiconductor technology.
The US is constantly demanding of its allies including the South Korea, Japan, and Netherlands to further squeeze restrictions on China’s access to semiconductor technology.
However, some US allies’ countries has shown discontent over the US increasing demands.
The chief executive of Dutch chip equipment giant ASML confirmed that the US-led campaign to restrict the company’s exports to customers in China in the name of national security has become more “economically motivated” with each passing day.

He admitted that it is become harder to prove the restrictions in the name of national security is getting harder and harder and was expected to oppose any expansion of the US led ban.
Christophe Fouquet, CEO of ASML, and his predecessor Peter Wennink, also raised objection to US’ restrictions on ASML’s exports of chip-making equipment to China.
Similarly, Japanese and South Korean industrialists have been at odds with their governments over the US demand to end cooperation with China.

These companies said that the US restrictions will badly affect normal trade relations.
Countries such as Japan, South Korea and the Netherlands have strong trade relations with China and are considered important, and some foreign trade is irreplaceable.
However, the US is using these countries’ security dependency to force them to accept restrictive policies, which has a good impact on global production.
Ultimately, these actions could not only harm America’s allies but also the US itself, Lü Xiang, a research fellow at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences said.
